Be a part of the Knowledge is Power Postcard Campaign
The federal government has wasted the past eight years and over $1.3 billion on abstinence-only programs which do not work and jeopardize the lives and futures of our young people by denying them scientifically sound information about methods of contraception.
Get your congregation or social justice committee involved in advocating for comprehensive sexuality education by asking members to sign a postcard to their member of Congress in support of reproductive justice. You can order your free postcards just by filling out the form below.
Please let other clergy, congregations, and organizations know about our campaign to empower young people with knowledge.
After the cards have been signed and collected, please send them C.O.D. to Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice C/O Rev. Jarvis Johnson at 1025 Vermont Avenue, NW Suite 1130, Washington, DC 20005
Inside of card reads:
As a person of faith, I believe it is a moral imperative to provide young people with the information they need to protect themselves from disease and unintended pregnancy. Abstinence-only-until-marriage programs do not delay sexual activity and leave young people at risk for unintended pregnancy and STDs. I call on you to ensure that age-appropriate, medically accurate comprehensive sex education is taught in the schools.
I urge you to:
Support funding for teen pregnancy and disease prevention programs which provide comprehensive sex education including medically accurate information about contraception and encourage abstinence while teaching important life skills.
Eliminate funding for programs that teach abstinence-only and prohibit teaching about condoms or other contraceptives, other than to discuss failure rates.
Yes! My congregation or group would like to participate!
Please send me cards.
