Clergy for Choice Pastoral Counseling for Reproductive Loss:
A Workshop for Clergy, Future Clergy and Religious Leaders of All Faiths
As part of our work to equip clergy to act for reproductive justice, RCRC offers our “Pastoral Care for Reproductive Loss” Workshop. To learn more, please contact Rev. Matthew Westfox at mwestfox@rcrc.org.
This seminar provides clergy and religious leaders with the information and skills they need to be an effective pastoral presence for people mourning a reproductive loss.
Any reproductive loss - whether through miscarriage, infertility, stillbirth, abortion or adoption - can carry with it a range of feelings, including feelings of grief, loss, loneliness, regret, relief, and sadness. While all these are normal responses to loss, people often feel the need to talk about their feelings. Our skills as pastoral counselors can do much to help restore emotional health for those who have experienced these losses.
“Pastoral Counseling for Reproductive Loss” covers medical, emotional, and spiritual issues and how these issues impact women and family member. Rituals and an extensive bibliography of print and on-line resources are provided. We will also discuss the particular issues involved around reproductive loss for those in the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities.
