Pastoral Counseling for Reproductive Loss

Any loss - whether through miscarriage, infertility, stillbirth, abortion, or adoption - can carry with it a range of feelings. Grief, loneliness, regret, relief, sadness are common. A person or couple experiencing a pregnancy loss may benefit from a sympathetic and supportive clergy person who will listen and provide support. A pastoral counselor can do much to help restore emotional health for those who have experienced these losses.

Pastoral Counselors for Reproductive Loss...

  • Provide information and/or referrals concerning medical, emotional and spiritual issues;
  • Guide clients to acceptance, mourning and healing;
  • Draw upon spiritual resources - prayer, medication, ritual;
  • Are present with those they counsel along their path to healing, restoration to wholeness and peace;
  • Draw on an extensive bibliography of resources, both print and on-line.

Contact your local affiliate and find out if they offer Pastoral Counseling for Reproductive Loss. If you are interested in bringing a Pastoral Counseling for Reproductive Loss training to your regional and national denominational conferences or to your seminary, call 2-2=628-7700 or email info@rcrc.org.

To engage in this work is to accompany women as they decide whether to bear a child in accordance with their own faith and beliefs, and then support whatever choice is made. And may God accompany all of us.
