Through SYRF, youth and young adults:

• Connect with other spiritual, pro-choice young people
• Challenge the myth perpetuated by the religious right that religion and pro-choice values are incompatible
• Become members of college or congregational SYRF chapters
• Get information and tools to become powerful spiritual advocates for choice
• Plan events that raise awareness about religion and choice on their campuses and in their communities
• Find answers to religiously based questions about abortion, sexuality education and other reproductive and sexual health issues
• Advocate for increased access to comprehensive reproductive health care services and education

In 2004, SYRF held its first Student Summit, "Putting Faith Into Action for Reproductive Rights," to bring together pro-choice, pro-faith college students in an effort to learn what it means to be young, spiritual, and pro-choice. More than 50 college students from diverse religious traditions, including Methodist, Presbyterian, Unitarian Universalist, Catholic, Jewish, and Hindu, attended the Student Summit in Washington D.C. on June 7-9. Their reasons for attending were varied and include an interest in exploring the theological foundations of reproductive choice, a desire to become more active politically, and a determination to counter the Religious Right on campus.
